Crummack Huseby Property Management is proud to announce that Michael Hayes has earned the Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®) designation from Community Associations Institute (CAI). Considered the highest professional recognition in community association management, the designation reflects Michael’s extensive industry experience and dedication to serving homeowners associations throughout Southern California.
With 14 years of community management experience and a background in active adult and master-planned communities, Michael brings a thoughtful approach to Board relationships and community operations. His latest achievement builds on a career recognized for professional leadership and a commitment to helping communities thrive.
A Significant Milestone in Community Association Management
The Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®) designation is CAI’s highest professional recognition for community association managers. It is awarded to experienced professionals who complete advanced education and demonstrate the knowledge necessary to navigate the financial and operational responsibilities of community associations.
Earning the designation requires a minimum of five years of direct community management experience, completion of CAI’s advanced educational coursework and a comprehensive case study. Candidates must also satisfy professional qualification requirements and adhere to CAI’s Professional Manager Code of Ethics.
For HOA Boards, these qualifications represent more than professional credentials. They reflect a manager’s commitment to continued education and the expertise needed to guide associations through increasingly complex decisions.
"Michael Hayes has consistently demonstrated a dedication to excellence and a genuine commitment to the communities he serves," said Sandy Huseby, Partner at Crummack Huseby Property Management. “Achieving the PCAM designation reflects both his expertise and his ongoing investment in delivering exceptional service to our clients.”
Recognizing Michael Hayes' Professional Experience and Leadership
Michael's career in community management spans 14 years, with experience supporting active adult communities and large master-planned developments. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from California State University, Fullerton, providing a foundation for his work in community operations and financial oversight.
Before transitioning into community management, Michael spent more than six years as an onsite Recreation Assistant for a 55+ active adult community in Orange County. That experience gave him firsthand exposure to lifestyle programming and the day-to-day needs of residents. It also helped shape his understanding of how strong community management contributes to the homeowner experience.
Since joining Crummack Huseby in 2019, Michael has focused on developing productive Board relationships and helping associations navigate operational challenges. His approach emphasizes proactive leadership and practical problem-solving, with an understanding that effective community management must balance Association responsibilities with resident expectations.
Building on an Award-Winning Career
Michael's PCAM designation follows another significant professional achievement. In 2024, he was named Portfolio Manager of the Year by CAI Orange County, recognizing his contributions to community association management.
His professional qualifications now include:
| Credentials and Recognition | Issuing Organization |
|---|---|
| Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®) | Community Associations Institute |
| Association Management Specialist (AMS®) | Community Associations Institute |
| Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) | Community Association Managers International Certification Board |
| 2024 Portfolio Manager of the Year | CAI Orange County |
Together, these accomplishments reflect Michael's investment in professional development and his commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the communities he serves.
What the PCAM Designation Means for HOA Boards
Community association management has become increasingly complex. Board members are responsible for substantial community assets and must make decisions that affect both Association finances and the long-term homeowner experience.
A highly qualified manager can help a Board understand those responsibilities and approach important decisions with greater confidence. Advanced professional education supports stronger governance practices and helps managers bring perspective to challenges that extend beyond routine operations. Experienced managers also play an important role in helping HOA boards make informed decisions.
At Crummack Huseby, that expertise aligns with a broader management philosophy. The firm's role is not simply to maintain a community. It is to help Boards keep their communities relevant, enhance the resident experience and make thoughtful improvements that support property values over time.
Michael's PCAM achievement reflects that commitment to professional growth and the value experienced managers bring to the Boards they serve.
A Continued Commitment to Professional Excellence
Crummack Huseby believes that strong community partnerships begin with knowledgeable managers who understand the communities they represent. Professional development is an important part of maintaining that standard, particularly as HOA Boards face more complicated operational and financial decisions.
Michael's dedication to professional growth reflects the firm's emphasis on experienced leadership and proactive service. His background in resident engagement and community operations brings an important perspective to his work, while his continued pursuit of advanced credentials demonstrates a commitment to the profession.
Crummack Huseby congratulates Michael on earning his PCAM designation and looks forward to the continued contributions he will make to the firm's clients and communities.
