Making a Connection with Her Community

How a chance encounter turned into a lifelong career. Our Employee Spotlight Shines this Month on Cheryl L. Downs

Born and raised in Orange County, it’s no surprise Cheryl does everything from learning to speak Spanish to Skiing. She’s certified in CCAM, CERT, and is working on her CMCA credential while also trying to learn another language. This desire to learn more is why Sandy and Margo find her in the spotlight this month.

She came to Crummack Huseby three years ago after she heard about the company through the CACM website. Cheryl did some more digging and found out Crummack Huseby had an open job position. Cheryl was looking for a career she enjoyed while also interacting with lots of people—Crummack Huseby fit her perfectly!

As a crucial part of Crummack Huseby’s portfolio management team, Cheryl works with all departments to ensure a smooth running HOA. “Each day I need to make sure that the needs of our clients are met from landscaping to roofing. I need to have knowledge in landscaping, accounting, construction and utmost people skills,” says Cheryl. She relies on experts but expanding her knowledge allows her to have constructive conversations with homeowners and vendors.

She look at Crummack Huseby like a family, and treasures being part of the community because of how much time she enjoys spending with the homeowners. Cheryl enjoys brightening someone’s day by finding a resolution and helping solve any problem that arises, “I also enjoy watching a community grow and seeing happy homeowners taking pride in ownership and loving their home.”

Cheryl helps others outside of work too, volunteering and having a special place in her heart for Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and Alzheimer's Foundation and “I could see how I could’ve been a nurse.”
