Whether you don’t want to deal with the fireworks show traffic, or have little ones who can’t handle the loud noises, we have four ideas to keep the fun poppin’ this Fourth of July.
Get a bubble machine and let the fun explode! Kids and grown-ups can both have fun enjoying it on the lawn or in the parking lot. Just make sure to not use it near the pool or indoors. There are so many affordable bubble machines on Amazon or your big box store. You can also rent the bigger ones at your local party supply store.
Create your own little parade and get everyone in your neighborhood to decorate their bikes, strollers, wagons, or just walk alongside the fun. Make banners, wear colorful t-shirts, don some blue wigs, get some streamers and face paint and play some fun music as you parade along your walkways or down the side walk. It gets everyone outside and involved in a fun, local event.
Holidays are a great time to have a fun food fight! You can make it more focused on the Fourth of July by getting your neighbors to enter the “Red, White, or Blue Food Competition.” Create three separate food categories. Red could be your salsa competition. White can be your cupcake competition. Blue could be your blueberry pie competition. The winner gets bragging rights and a cute printed award if you want to amp it up.

The day is filled with barbecues, swimming, crafts, eating, and sometimes you just want to take a break but also want to keep hanging outside. Have everyone bring a blanket, get a popcorn machine or buy it pre-made, and create little fun red cups filled with snacks that match the holiday. You can purchase an outdoor screen online or maybe make one if you have a handy volunteer to help out. We recommend a family friendly animation because the visuals are so engaging. Movies like The Incredibles, Moana, Finding Nemo, or Monsters, Inc.
As always…be safe and have fun this Fourth of July!
