BAKER RANCH 5K FUN RUN: TAKING STEPS TO BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER

Our first ever Baker Ranch 5K was incredible! On September 15, runners of all levels ran through four parks: Vista Swim Club, Borrego Trail, Oaks Tennis Park, and Promenade Park. We had over 100 participants who, along with our sponsors, helped us bring awareness to Higher Ground Youth & Family Services, a not-for-profit charitable organization based out of Yorba Linda.

Crummack Huseby helped Baker Ranch facilitate this event with the ultimate goal of having fun and bringing people from the community together. Although it wasn’t a timed run, everyone who attended got to enjoy the fun at the finish line. Awaiting them was a fitness expo with a DJ playing upbeat hits to keep everyone’s heart pumping, and a free photo booth to create a memento to share and cherish.

Park West Landscape Management handed out tomato seeds to inspire your green thumb. Monarch Environmental gave away succulent plants, which is a great idea for those who like low-maintenance greenscaping. Animal Pest Management came through with some free, healthy snacks, and for those who still wanted some exercise, Club Pilates Foothill Ranch hosted a squat challenge!

ABOUT HIGHER GROUND

Higher Ground Youth & Family Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Joe Baldo in 2012, although the inspiration for the organization came much earlier through the grassroots efforts of Joe and friends. Today, Higher Ground has a dedicated group of board members and a growing volunteer and intern base. By partnering with a wide range of organizations,  Higher Ground is able to identify youth at the elementary, middle, and high school level who are "at risk", and offer them a positive support system, in a friendly, safe environment.
