HOW TO HOST YOUR HOA HOLIDAY MEETING

November 23, 2018    Crummack Huseby News, Education

Over the past years, we’ve discovered some easy ways to bring your community together for that last HOA meeting of the year. Add a little holiday spirit without the humbug of chaotic planning and really make it a happy holiday for you and your community.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Choose a location on your property or within close distance to your community. Clubhouse, pool area, large lawn space, etc. This encourages more people to show up since no one has to drive to the party, and people can come and go with ease.

SERVE SOME SNACKS OR MORE

If your budget permits, get your party catered. If the budget is on the smaller side, invite a potluck style event where people can bring entrees or appetizers and desserts. You can also host a coffee, cocoa, and cookie party for an after-dinner event that’s short and sweet.

NO HIDDEN AGENDAS

Let everyone know this is still an HOA meeting and you should discuss what is necessary. For those who want to socialize, perhaps put out an agenda of when your HOA meeting starts and when the festivities begin.

PRIZES FOR PARTICIPATION

If a homeowner’s attendance is mandatory, encourage them to join the meeting with a prize for attendance. Maybe a gift certificate from a local restaurant, a food delivery service, or a car wash certificate.

LET THE MUSIC PLAY

Grab a laptop or connect your phone to someone’s Bluetooth speakers. Remember to keep the mix upbeat and try to avoid any songs with inappropriate lyrics. We suggest starting out with holiday music than getting into some more upbeat songs as the crowd gets bigger.

GIFT TO CHARITY

If your community likes to get together for charity, you can add a voluntary gift-giving element for a local non-profit. Maybe you ask for pet toy donations for your local rescue shelter, new toys for Toys for Tots, or even a canned food drive for your local food pantry.
