JOIN THE COMMITTEE OR CREATE A NEW ONE!

March 29, 2017    Education, Homeowner Tips

If you don’t want to join the board, there are still many ways to play a fun role in your HOA.

If you bought a home with an HOA—congratulations! It comes with automatic membership into your community association. Homeowners like you are all part of enhancing and adding enjoyment to your neighborhood. Crummack Huseby has a team of incredible thinkers but Margo Crummack also knows ideas can come from anywhere, “We pitch ideas and solutions to HOAs all the time, but we also get great inspiration from homeowners. It’s your community and we’re here to help you make it the best.” But if you don’t want to join the board, there are still many ways to be part of your HOA.

Have Your Voice Heard

No one in your HOA is a mind-reader. So whether you email your board or attend a board meeting, let them know about any great ideas you have–like a community potluck day in the summer. Or give them some ideas on how to save money. You’d be surprised how often ideas are implemented. Your idea could be next!

Strength in Numbers

It’s not the number of homes in your community but the number of people involved. The more homeowners you have participating in community activities—the happier your neighborhood! Your monthly dues are only one way to keep your community looking it’s best. Your involvement is priceless.

Meet Your Neighbors

Oftentimes we are too busy with our lives to get to know the people down the hall or next door. Attending HOA meetings or events allows you to connect with someone on an idea or a change you’d like to see. Nervous about presenting an idea by yourself? Your new neighbor may be a perfect team player when it comes time to present something.

Create a Committee

Homeowners wants more than a home, they want a lifestyle experience. Whether it’s activitites poolside or a bench by the lawn, or even a robust gym, these are things you can be involved in at any time. You don’t have a Summer Activities Committee? Create one! Get some homeowners involved and plan some fun in your community. More and more communities are doing “Trunk or Treat” for Halloween, or “Potluck by the Pool". The fun is endless!

There are many ways to have fun without joining the board, but becoming involved is the number one way to make a change that benefits everyone.
